I think that would work. They need to privatize the guards first though to keep out those pesky reporters. Pinkerton is still around ready to break some legs aren't they?

Aren't you falling into a categorical fallacy? If you have a governing party that has as its philosophical underpining the idea that government can do no good, then it follows that under the authority of such a party government will indeed do no good. Isn't that why Duddykins put the fox to guard every henhouse that the government oversees, from the envoronment to OSHA? But the performance of such a governing party says nothing at all about the potential of governmenet as such to act.

Not at all. I specifically was referring to the federal government et al. Not which party is the steward at any particular time. And as far as the signing statement that GW initiated to monitor performance of federal agencies to real world standards. That seems like good business policy to me.

Locally, there are two very good VA hospitals. One is the 4th largest in the nation and both are very up to date and clean. It all boils down to responsible management. Obviously, the management at WR was negligent which is abhorrent considering the sacrifices the vets have made.

I think you should qualify that...

this Govt under Bush and/or GOP Congress was incapable of providing ANYthing to the people unless they were their heavy contributors !! The VA thing went on for > 2 years... didn't just happen ove ra few weeks.

Ever think they WANTED the Govt to be FUBAR so they could use the excuse to privitize everything for their big business donors ?

NAW, they wouldn't DO that !!

David (OFI)
