i think the lounge just becomes like the lounge at MC and non-mac issues are contained there . . . and that would include political topics.

--
"I am mindful that diversity is one of the strengths of the country" --president bush on 9/27/05

I disagree. I'd be concerned that the political threads might eventually swamp the Lounge, and that would certainly drive away a lot of high value members that prefer not to talk politics.

I always felt the same about Peanuts, Garfield (and is B.C. still around?) and they just keep limping on and on and on...

This forum was set aside for the impending elections a few years ago. Well, if it was worth setting aside then, then there is another set of elections ahead already starting to garner a lot of attention so....

We are what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle

yeah I agree with them both, Stan....

the forum is more progressive now than ever before, BUT I think it's that many "righties" who supported Bush and his illegal actions now have no logical way to defend him... how do you defend torture, illegal wire taps, secret porisons, no trials, all the lies with Iraq invasion etc.??
Bush left them with no grounds to stand on.

so those previous members which gave the forum balance (though looney sometimes) have melted away.... Is that our fault ?

And as far as using the forum for the last election, the political arenas are already heating up again for 2008. I think it's too soon, but the media is driving lots of this. So keep the Forum Open.

Hey who good for the Dem ticket ??...
which GOP candidates would be best forthat party?

I think many righties could defend the new candidates. Their track record is 1000% better than Bush's. and many differ with him on many important issues. Look at Arnold in CA !!

David (OFI)

the other forum i participate on regularly has plenty of conservatives who continue to post. some of them support the additional troops and some of them don't, but they are very active. most aren't big bush supporters, but they still argue vehemently about how nice they think the economy is now doing and a host of other topics. this place here is completely one sided. the folks who were more independent and probably bush supporters have completely changed their position (e.g., steveg) and the folks who were on the right have just left.

--
"I am mindful that diversity is one of the strengths of the country" --president bush on 9/27/05
Edited by sean on 01/18/07 05:14 PM (server time).

Man, I just checked myself. The MMMod is gone. What was the point of all that fuss n feathers? Even when I was against the Mod, I figured he/she would be around longer than that. Is it a "my work is done here" situation or what? Humph.

We are what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle

Which comes back to gary's first comment. I can't imagine what there has been to complain about. There hasn't been a cat fight or mud slinging or a personal attack in months! Sure the board has listed heavily to one side, but that's because those who espoused the other POV have long since left. And the socks have disappeared, too.

Debate IS good. I wish we had some!

I'm a conservative but there are a lot of things I don't agree with what Bush is doing. I really don't know about the whole Iraq situation as part of me thinks that we should withdraw, but then where does that leave the area? What kind of mess will we have if we leave? Then again, I don't want any more troops being harmed either. I just hope for the best.
