Hi everyone. First time posting and I have a question concerning RAM.

I have a Powerbook G4 15 inch 1.67 Mghz with 512 KB of RAM. I want to upgrade to 2 Gigs of RAM. I have 2 slots that can each take 1G RAM. I have the SuperDrive, and I upgraded to 100 Gig with 7200 RPM when I purchased the unit.

Apple support told me to get "PC 4200 DDR2 533" - not sure what that means.

I've searched on pricegrabber.com & ramseeker.com, lots of options! Can anyone reccommend a particular brand? I'm looking at Kingston, Samsung, also seen names like Corsair, Viking, Patriot, Smart Modular.

Also, how do I know if a particular brand is compatible with my MAC. or is that even an issue?

Thanks for any and all help you can give.
Mike

Prices vary, but check out the options here. People swear by Crucial, but I've used Kingston and Samsung with no problems.

And welcome to the boards!

____________________________________________________
Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,
But to be young was very heaven!

I've used Datamem (click here) for over 15 years. Because I know I can trust them. I just bought a 1 Gig SODIMM from them for my MacBook Pro a few months ago. But, as Yoyo said Crucial is a god company too.
