I was reading on a local forum about this Man vs Wild show on the Discovery Channel. I downloaded the latest one (Episode 5) and am 9 minutes into the show.

This guy is an ex-special forces (SAS?) soldier from England. He parachutes into the Sierra Nevadas mountain range and shows how to survive.

So far it's pretty interesting. I thought it was a dare-devil type of show but so far it's not. Though I am only 10 minutes into it.

Anyone else catch this on tv?

My borther watches it... but he doesn't like it... because the guy acts like he is all alone... but he's with a crew of cameramen. Personally, I've never seen it.

Have you seen Survivor Man? I've only caught it a couple of times, so I don't know the guy's background, but he is one totally surviving dude. He even films himself. I think he's half whacked, but then I think maybe I should be taking notes.

linky

[color:blue] Talk about things and nobody cares . . .

I seen a show but not sure which one it was ?
Was this guy walking around the desert explaining how to survive , what I did not like about the show the whole time he had a black rubber tube which he used as a drinking straw to drink water - It would have been better if he showed you how to make a drinking straw from the natural resources that are available , on the spot so to speak . After all not everyone carries a black hose

The one I saw seemed pretty contrived. Much like survivor. Edited to make best drama. But it did have the guy out "by himself" making do. I really don't think he was even close to being in trouble though.

dave

I like the show I Shouldn't Be Alive. It's told by people who got lost in some wilderness or the middle of the ocean and how they got through it. I wish they aired that show more often.

[color:blue]I like the show I Shouldn't Be Alive - Hummm

I seen something similar but was on Oprah , I believe .
Show had survivors who were lost at sea some of them over 40 days floating in rafts . The one story that got me was about this young couple 30 something who lost their sail boat and was drifting in a raft for over 2 weeks , she spoke about how every night the sharks would constantly bump the raft and keep them up all night . Their water purifier broke down and hunger was starting to set in . One morning her husband said "I love you" and just swam away from the raft and disappeared to never return , the husband felt with his sacrifice she could survive a bit longer . At first she cried and cried for her lost until "anger" took over that her husband took the easy way out and left her to die alone .

She was rescued the next morning
