My son got home from work at Best Buy after midnight--late cause they were counting all the money. He says that the story had targeted 850K, and made 980K on the day. Not bad, I guess.

____________________________________________________
Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,
But to be young was very heaven!

I didn't spend 1¢. I had to work, but I did get off an hour early, since there were no deliveries to receive and I was completely caught up on my work. I wouldn't have gone shopping anyway. I just don't like being one of the herd.

I'm a hold out, too. There just isn't a deal on the planet that would get me out in that mob scene, and that early in the am? My heart doesn't even beat that time of day.

Jim braved it, though. He's needed a new laptop for awhile now, and I can't bring him over to the dark side, so he nailed a killer deal on a . . . look, I married a PC guy. I love him and I don't want to talk about it. Suffice it to say, we live in Perpetually Broke Land, and the deal was really sweet.

But the guy who cut in line and snarled about how he was unstable and had a knife in his pocket? That's worth it's own thread.

Tis the Season, huh?

[color:blue] Talk about things and nobody cares . . .

I agree. I haven't been out of the house, except to walk the dogs, since 6 on Thursday night. You gotta be a nut to go shopping on Black Friday!

____________________________________________________
Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,
But to be young was very heaven!

I am coming in late to this conversation as I work in retail and worked black Friday. If you like people, it is a lot of fun to work on this day. My store has music (the Garbonzo, a one-man band), free coffee and donuts for the people waiting. They pass out maps where all the specials are and all the managers go out and talk to the folks waiting to get in. This year there were about 4000 people at the three entrances according to the people counters. The TLC does wonders for the customers. Most everyone comes in with a smile and by knowing where the merchandise is, it slows down the mad dash. Very few complain about the lines (they are long even with extra registers). It is fun to see what brought them out this early. Some will buy lots and lots of stuff, others will just show up with one item.
