I think Intel officially announces the release of their 4-core Xeon chip (Clovertown) tomorrow. Dell is already taking orders for workstations with these chips in them.

Since others have claimed that pre-release copies of the Clovertown processors work in the existing MacPros, when do you think Apple will start selling MPs with Clovertown processors in them?

I read somewhere (here?) that since the chips right now only have 1.8ghz that Steve is waiting for higher clock speeds. Probably some bull but who knows.

I just hope that it brings the price down on the current chips.

Yeah, Dell only has the 1.8GHz version. Hmmm... I wonder if that means that is all Intel is going to announce?

I'm just kinda surprised there isn't more speculation about this yet. Not even the back-alley rumor sites are talking about it.

See, you've done it, you've got me speculating. My white iBook has deteriorated enough that I am back on our old Tangerine, limping around. I was going to go take a look at a new iMac yesterday, but a meeting held me up. I plan to go in tomorrow when I have some free time, but, now I wonder should I hold out a little longer....? I know, I should just take the plunge and not worry about it, right?

We are what we repeatedly do. -Aristotle

Applesider thinks the "Clovertown" Mac Pros will come out this month.
I am curious to see how this is handled.
Will there be a whole new 8-core Mac Pro line?
Or will "Clovertown" be added as a BTO for the present Mac Pro?
