It's been one of my all time favorite movies for almost 40 years
it's Mel's FIRST MOVIE (and in many people's opinion) his best.
(More Brainey Than Slap-Schtick)(I Doan LIKE Slap-Schtick!)
But it's still surprising after all this time that so few people are
even familiar with it, until Mel Brooks resurrected it (TWICE) as
a Movie & A Broadway Show about TA~DA! A Broadway Show!

I'm just trying to share.

And MY all-time Favorite Halloween Movie is "Arsenic & Old Lace"
w/Cary Grant, Raymond Massey, Peter Lorre & Josephine Hull.

History of the World Part 1 is the worst of the movies he wrote and acted in but the entire French Revolution era is worth the rental alone. The Roman era is good too. Just some of the segways were a little stale. Oh yeah, the Spanish Inquisition song is a hoot. It's not his best but it really has some great bits.
