To save you the clicking, the answer is yes. But why? Is their no DVD drive on the Powerbook (which would obviously kill all hopes of installing Tiger)?

CreativeGuy for daily tips, tricks and commentary on all things graphic design.

Jim, I have a G3 blue/white tower with 256MB RAM sitting doing nothing at the new place I'm working at.. I decided to make it an internal website to show information about the project I'm managing. The internal support team placed the G3s aside with a few other old Macs and converted (almost) everything to Windoze PCs.

The G3 was running Mac OS 8.6 with no hope of running anything newer.. To my surprise, they said they kept their Mac OS X licensing current. When I checked, the G3 only had a CD-ROM drive, hence my question..

Thanks

www.waleedsgallery.biz
If this helps. My company sent in our 10.4 DVD to Apple so that we could have CD's. I think it was $19.95 for the excahnge. We have so many work stations that are firewire G3's with out a dvd drive. Good Luck!

www.patgamble.com

It's interesting to know that such services exist, thanks..
But I think for just once machine, the target firewire is a good solution for now (although the subject I wrote was wrong *blush*)

The good new is, I got the green light for an Xserve (waiting for the Xeon) and to provide them with a plan to convert their Windoze environment back to Mac.. So, yaaaaaaaaay

www.waleedsgallery.biz
