I've met a few Americans while vacationing in Cuba. I'm sure that there are more but they keep quiet where they are from.

Canadians, Brits and Germans make up the bulk of the tourists.

no, i realized that when i was typing, but america is a decent sized country with much money to waste. the first many years that cuba opens up to the USA are going to be crazy with americans flocking there and driving prices up (supply - demand).

--
"I am mindful that diversity is one of the strengths of the country" --president bush on 9/27/05

Yoyo, why are the Miami Cubans so excited? Raul is hardline. Some say he can be more ruthless than Fidel. If the Cuban-Americans think the death of Fidel means a ticket home they should think again. Communism is well entrenched in Cuba and Raul has a faithful army.

I was thinking the same thing. But, from what I saw of news clips it seemed most were just using it as an excuse to get all excited about something and party in the streets. Much like when a team wins a championship. Just my impression of what I saw.

***Leoville

i think it's largely due to the fact that many of these folks just HATE fidel. perhaps america will be able to strike a deal with anyone other than fidel, so there's that as well. but, never underestimate the power of hate.

--
"I am mindful that diversity is one of the strengths of the country" --president bush on 9/27/05
