The NYTimes now has a video interview with the father of Nicholas Berg. The man is angry that Zarqawi was killed. He would have opted for forgiveness.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get behind that. He refers to it as an act of revenge — and maybe it is to some degree — but to fail to see that for once, justice has been served just baffles me. At the very least, I'd think this man might feel some closure. Go figure.

I think this is a good thing of course. However, when I got home, I asked my wife if she had heard. We started talking about it and my son over hears. He has no idea who Zarqawi is. And he asks, why did they kill him? I didn't even know where to start explaining. Sometimes it is right to kill? I did my best, and hoped he understood, though I sometimes his questions make me realize I have not fully come to grips with how things are in this world. At least we know that there are very few people mourning his death out there.

Anyone catch Rumsfeld's speech? When he started talking in length about Zarqawi, it was sometimes hard to remember if he wasn't talking about himself. Where's a transcript.... It's never a good thing when someone dies so violently. But this is one of those extremes where justice takes on whatever shape it must. How many thousands have died because of this man's "mission"? (Yeah, yeah... same could be asked about Bush.) Maybe he should have been beheaded himself. I dunno. It's just too bad his boss has escaped a similar fate for so long.
