We called the tree the "bodark" tree. Those fruits are good for nothing and make it very difficult to maneuver when they fall. Wood is very hard and durable. First chuckwagons were built of Bodark wood. Root yields a tan to orange dye. Sap of large, green fruit yields an insecticide. This plant has been used as a hedgerow, also called a Hedge Apple. "<br><br><br>
