I've decided to try out Firefox for a while and see why it's so much better than Safari. I'm curious about what extensions you all think are really useful or essential. Thanks!

. . . . . Here's lookin' at [color:red]you kid.

Only problem with extensions is that browser updates will often disable some extensions until those updates are also available. For instance, the 1.5.01 FF update installed itself last night, and now my spell checker is kaput 'til Spellbound updates the extension and libraries. Also lost Tab-X, which puts a "close" button on tabs. Generally takes a few days to a week for extension updates to be released.

Just the same, it's a far better browser than Safari.

Steve, regarding the Tab-X (a nice little extension), you can use the Tab Options extension I mentioned in the article linked above. It allows you to double click a tab to close it, or open a new tab by double clicking in the empty space in the tab bar (among other things). It's very nice. Here is my original Firefox list And here is a follow up list. There are a lot of other cool ones available, via a Google search

Cool. Thanks, Giz. Same issue though. You never know when an update will render an extension incompatible. I just wish there were more spilchockker opshunz.

the upside is that at least when an extension isn't compatable, Firefox disables it for you and continues to run normally... unlike crappy apps like Suitcase or Quark which simply lock up or crash your machine!

There you go again blaming everything wrong in the world on Quark.

I've been playing with the QXP 7 beta off and on, and while I'm not exactly enraptured by it, it has played pretty nicely with the rest of my system. And honestly, I've never had a problem with Suitcase. I think it's just you.

Steve...

Do yourself a favor and go have a read about the QXP7 beta as tested by Mike Ornellas over on the Adobe Photoshop Forum. He has a home log-in name of "Crayola"...so reading that, understand that it's the same person. The guy pretty much has a jackass personality online, but he REALLY knows his sh¡t (does a LOT of work for Apple). The thread explores some good points.

http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@507.XTs3fhvORAD.108@.3bbdf7d5

Interesting. 10-Q for the link. Truth is, a lot of what this guy is talking about is way above my depth. I'm not a production artist. All my work is at the concept and comp level, and I've always sub-contracted my final releases to pros who make it a perfect file. All that technical stuff scares the crap outta me!
