Hard to believe it's taken nearly 5 years to get the Enron trial under way. And I guess tomorrow is only the beginning of jury selection, so it'll be a few more weeks before the real soap opera begins.

But this'll be one worth watching fersure. Maybe a DVD set with alternate verdicts next year? Lay and Skilling action figures? Yowza!

Ummmmm... my post is about the principal architects of the Enron collapse. It is possible to start a thread here that isn't about one Bush or another, isn't it? Or do I need some kind of permit?

If there is any direct linkage between a Bush or Bush tag-along and the fraud, it'll come to light during the trial.

That would't be so bad except they keep setting themselves up for hypocracy, snafus, lies, flip-flopping (even more than the Dems)...
about the only thing GW has going right now is the Alito conformations... he's going to win that one - I'll give him that !

but then you have his limp Poll numbers...
the Abramoff connection Congress is asking Bush to come clean on
the Katrina stuff...
the V Plame stuff,
this NEW ONE (which should prove interesting)...
the fact he went on TV last year and said he was asking for $350 million for Palestine for new elections they were pushing (no one in Palestine wanted them except Hamas) and now Hamas is taking over... (new major embarassment and Bush FUBAR).

I mean the guy dominates the news when it comes to FAILURE ! and Fsck-Ups !!

so it's hard not to cite something he's not involved with.

Bottom Line: Bush has been a very BAD Boy !!

David (OFI)
So, assuming the trial goes on for another year, and then the appeal yet another year, and then the delays while he gets his affairs in order, Kennyboy will probably serve a whopping two weeks in the hoosegow before his pardon comes through on January 20th, 2009.

On some talk show yesterday I caught three minutes of a NY Times reporter who has just written a book on the Enron thing (Conspiracy of the Stupid . . . not quite the title, but something like that) who says that it's likely that KennyBoy won't be convicted.

. . . . . Here's lookin' at [color:red]you kid.

Word is 5-6 months for the trial. The prosecutors' biggest task, according to an interview I heard yesterday on NPR, is to prove that the actions of the defendants were indeed deliberate crimes as opposed to very bad business decisions. I think part of what will influence the verdicts will be whether or not the people's blood lust was satisfied with the Kislowsky and Rigas verdicts.

In reply to:

There is "no conflict of interest. ... We're just capitalizing on whatever good feelings exist," an executive from the company Neil Bush represented later told Seymour Hersh, who laid out the embarrassing story on the pages of The New Yorker in September 1993. Neil, according to Hersh, later returned to Kuwait and set up shop in the International Hotel in Kuwait City, where he tried to secure a management contract with Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity and Water. Neil's deal included foreign and Kuwaiti members of the Enron consortium, and would have had the Kuwaiti government paying a management fee to a Kuwaiti company that was owned in part by a private company set up in the Caribbean or some other tax haven. "The offshore firm would have various owners, in Europe and elsewhere, one of which would be a company in which Neil Bush had an interest," The New Yorker reported. The scheme was ingenious, a financial analyst told Hersh."If you looked at one of the contracts, how in the hell would you know that Bush was in it?" The whole deal was as unsavory and unpardonable as a round of golf with Hillary Clinton sibling Huey Rodham.

...it was at that point, with the BUSH Family's close involvement with former political cronies ((thanx to the REVOLVING DOOR Political/Corporate One-Hand-Washing-The-Other practice ))tied to Enron, that was just hitting the light of day, when the first jet hit the WTC.

Suddenly the entire matter was transferred to the back burner, until it came off the boil.

NOW, when another distraction is needed..... VOILA!

as you yourself pointed out, this can drag on for months! (or years)
and while the American people SHOULD be watching the UNI-EXECUTIVE TAKEOVER
they'll be glued to court TV instead.
