I've noticed that some digital cameras now use something called xD-Picture cards rather than CompactFlash or SmartMedia (or the Sony stick). Is this new format better than the other two? The cards, if you can find them, seem more expensive than CF or SM--are they worth the extra price? I've been thinking of getting a 3.x or 4 megapixel camera (my little Fuji is only 1.3 ), but I don't want to get something with a card that's going to go the way of the 8-track cassette. And also my card reader will read SM and CF, but not this new kind of card, so I want to know that it's really worthwhile.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
