Sorry if the title is somewhat confusing..couldn't think of a better wording.

As you all know, I sold my mac last night. So now I gotta get it ready for shipping tomorrow. I want to wipe the HD and do a clean install, but how do I stop before you enter all the info? Can I just turn it off or will that screw things up?

Which would be better..installing OS9 and then shutting down or OSX? Or would it not matter?

I am going the OS9 route cause it's just as quick and that way he can have classic if he wants.

What do you all think?

Loc: Pittsburgh, PA
I would go with the clean install of 9 & X. It should be fine if you shut down before you enter the info. I would check to make sure that the setup assistant pops up when you start up to make sure it's ok and then shutdown again.

If you're installing only 9, then it shouldn't be a problem not to put in the assistant information. Make sure that the assistant starts up (I think it stays in the startup items forlder until it's actually used).

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
