My girlfriend travelled by airline this week. Her IPOD 20GB has worked fine for several months. We use WINAMP Plugin to write tracks to said IPOD. During her flight travels, the IPOD was scanned in her hand luggage. The music files still exist on the IPOD but the following major issues have cropped up

WINAMP no longer sees IPOD
Windows Explorer sees IPOD and launches MP3 files okay (My laptop defaults to WINAMP to play files, but WINAMP still does not see IPOD or contents)
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, a bug bear for the poor lady is that The IPOD Itself has (I assume) lost it's table of contents. Rather than reformat the IPOD, is the TOC recoverable?

Has anyone come across this unreliable issue previously?

Any help gratefully received

I've googled a few links that say x-ray machines (I assume that's what you were talking about) are harmless to iPods, but have you tried resetting the iPod to its factory defaults?

Run the iPod software updater on your computer to do this, or press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may have to do it a few times...
