Just heard this today verbal via 3rd party or more.
Wondering if anyone here heard something similar ?

This IT guy told me that a computer store manager told him that.

Longhorn now named Vista is shelved.
Apparently the programing team working on the project had a meeting with Balmer and Gates and simply said that what they wanted in MS next release cannot be done ?

The rumor sounds fishy to me at best.
However longhorn features was stripped down and then renamed Vista.
So maybe Vista features is going to be stripped down further and end up only being a maintenance update to XP ? ?

Maybe the site did not get the news yet ? if its even close to being half true.

Interesting how MS makes the big bucks by dividing Vista up into 8 different products. 4 OS versions for consumers to ponder over and 3 OS versions for pros to ponder over, assuming they would have to all upgrade as they grow.

The link was my polite way of saying your rumor is BS
There was a link posted last month of Gate's keynote address at a developers conference. It was impressive, and I bet if you took a look at it you'ld laugh off this rumor too.

That site is produced by MS fanboy #1 Paul Thurrott - he's the biggest MS zealot you'll find. If that rumor is true, he's probably still crying.

Though remember, Apple's Copland (and thus Gershwin) were shelved far into development too. It wouldn't be the end of the world for them.
