Look at these 2 examples of the same page first rendered in Netscape 7 and than IE 5. The Netscape page is neat and ordered. Fonts size, color and flow is all correct unlike the IE 5. It's not just this page. Most of the sites I visit look shocking on IE. How come they have such a market dominance?

http://raszl.net

Netscape 7 isn't slower on my machines (PowerMacintosh G3, PBG3). Also you get the little icons that are missing from IE besides the address bar, not to mention the tabbed browsing. Give it a try!

http://raszl.net

I have to agree that Netscape 7 is twice as fast as IE on my G4 400, dual 450 and dual 1ghz... however on my slow 500mhz iBook it is actually much slower than IE.

I was using IE on my iBook until the other day when I switched ALL my computers over to Chimera - which works obscenely fast on all my computers!

[color:red] Kiss My Banana!
Visit me here!

I'll give it another try iraszl... It seems to render everything internally and then pops it into the screen in one go, where IE renders everything as it downloads it from the source.. More experiments should make me switch or stick to IE..

MacGizmo, I remember you had a way to fix Mozilla/Netscape into launching mail.app instead of their own mail functionality. Could you please point me to it .

Is Chimera the navigator-only part of Mozilla/Netscape?

Chimera is based on the Mozilla code, just like Netscape - however, unlike Netscape and Mozilla, Chimera is ONLY a browser... they don't put e-mail, news and ICQ in.

Here is how to do the external mail link.

Use MS Word or TextEdit and creat a file that says:

user_pref("network.protocol-handler.external.mailto", true);
user_pref("applications.mailto", "Microsoft Entourage");
user_pref("applications.mailto.host", "%username%@%host%");

Change the bold type to whatever app you want (such as mail.app)

Save the file as a "text only" file and name it user.js
put the file in your profile folder (the same folder which contains prefs.js) in OSX it is found in your Users/Library/Mozilla folder.

[color:red] Kiss My Banana!
Visit me here!
