. . .The second highest ranking Democrat in the Senate took to the floor Tuesday night and compared our Servicemen at Guantanamo to Nazis, Stalinist Soviets running Russian gulags and Pol Pot. Considering that 9 million people, including 6 million Jews, died in Hitler's death camps, around 3 million people died in Stalin's gulags and almost 2 million Cambodians died in Pol Pot's scourge of his country, no prisoners have died at Guantanamo.<br><br>. . . and still Durbin draws the comparison between these evil regimes that "had no concern for human beings" and our prisoner interrogation at Gitmo. <br><br>These remarks were made Tuesday on the floor of the Senate. On Wednesday, Durbin wasn't backing down. While some papers picked up the story, it went largely unreported in the liberal media. Having gone back and reviewed The CBS Evening News Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, not a breath was used reporting Durbin's comments. Regardless of whether or not you agree with his assessment, and given that Guantanamo is the media's "A story" these days, you would think that *any* controversial statement would be worthy of at least a mention.<br><br>The next time a Republican says just the slightest thing controversial, and the media blows it up to an above the fold, breaking news, top story-story, remember this moment. This is liberal media bias in its clearest form. <br><br>

There are two inaccuracies there.<br><br>First of all, Senator Durbin did not compare the military to the military of those totalitarian regimes. He compared our policies of prisoner abuse to the policies of those regimes.<br><br>Secondly, the interrogators at Guantanamo that Senator Durbin mentioned were not members of the military. We don't know who they were. The few people identified in the FBI memo were MPs under orders of unidentified people, likely the CIA.<br><br>The mainstream media has resisted making the same convolution that the partisan media has, and now the partisan media is complaining because the mainstream media does not reflect their own misinformation.
