Interesting read and somehow convincing too. But a much simpler (and less fun) reason is that Apple had no other choice in the long run, and AMD was a distant second choice. And of course Intel is ecstatic about this because "the innovator", the 3 percent powerhouse, wants it's chips.<br><br>Not that a trip into Cringley's reality distortion field wasn't enjoyable. If he ends upbeing right, please forget you read this.<br><br>

Oh yeah...all the benchmarks I've seen put AMD as the champ. They also have more 64-bit stuff, from what I've read. <br><br>But I just doubt AMD could be as good of a supplier as Intel, volume-wise. <br><br>
