it is pretty classic. who knew a sock could actually make the sock owner more loved?

In reply to:

Would I be sorry to see him go? Yes. Okay, I lied. I'm delighted he's gone. I do miss Sean. He knew how to debate! He was educated and informed. He was a challange, and darn it, he'd best me, but I'd be too annoyed to tell him so. Not that he couldn't tell.

poly and i had a contest to see if we could go 7 months without posting -- the PM:

of course i won . . . but only because i cheated my butt off. "Dissenter" arrived 6 days later and posted in the Stan's Lounge at first before eventually coming in here. the sad thing is that Poly later "lost" by making a post to Dissenter telling him that he should take some time off and get outside and enjoy life rather than post here. and Dissenter listened and made his last post on June 2 . . . less than 2 months after he started. and oddly enough, exactly a month later sean returned. (so i actually did take a month off). i think we both lost in the end.

and, Skul made a post in this thread saying "Dissenter" sent him a PM saying he's a bad father, etc. i did send him a PM in character, but i didn't say he was a bad father and it wasn't a personal attack; rather, i had read a post about problems he was having with his daughter and suggested he had made some poor decisions and offered advice. i . . . er, "Dissenter" was more or less saying what "sean" had said in this thread where sean was thanked.

fwiw, i didn't like Dissenter because he was a little bit arrogant . . . mostly because of his youth. heh. i even had him argue with folks that i personally had no problems with (e.g., steveg) just to distance myself from the sock. i made him a bad speller and a guy who put all of his faith in the NY Times, which is pretty goofy, eh? i think i might have revealed this sock previously??? no?

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
How did you have 2 different IP addresses from 2 different states?

I looked up Dissenter because I thought it was a puppet, but it comes back as from Houston.

[color:white]I'm also known as OSXaddict
i am not as stupid as i look.

well, if i am showing up as being from Texas with Dissenter then I messed up claiming he lived in Chicago. heh.

i don't know what i used, but it was a search similar to this.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
I never said you were stupid. In fact, it is me that is stupid because I have heard of doing that but never knew how or what you had to do. Still don't. Guess I'll have to read up on it.

[color:white]I'm also known as OSXaddict
Skul didn't just drop from here, he dropped out of life. I used to work with the guy. He was the reason I initially came here. About 2 months later he didn't turn up to work and within the week didn't have a job - due to abandonment. I've not heard from him since he left, so have no idea the reasons.

I used to think it was terrible that life was unfair. Then I thought what if life were fair and all of the terrible things that happen came because we really deserved them? Now I take comfort in the general unfairness and hostility of the universe.

Wow. I assumed he'd just gotten tired of the on-line battles. Hope he's OK wherever he is.

[color:red] [color:orange] [color:yellow] [color:green] [color:blue] [color:purple]

"I never said you were stupid." -- i was kidding.

i actually learned about it here at MM many, many years ago. i mentioned it about 4 years ago in this thread, but i don't see that you posted in the topic.

wait, i noted in that thread that i'd learned about anonymous posting in this thread and JohnR is in this thread.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
Edited by FSM on 05/23/08 10:49 AM (server time).

i just assumed he was enjoying his Nissan Xterra, GPS, and camera so much that he left to explore the world. that's really strange that he disappeared like that in real life as well. i hope he's okay. i really did enjoy his presence.

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions
