The more teeth you lose, the older you are, and the older you are, the wiser you are--ain't that right?

And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear

bdog
if they pull all four of your wisdom teeth, you wont even be able to turn your ibook on. best keep at least two of them, then you prolly will be able to limp along. :)

Bondi "B" Maxed out

nah, I'd recommend getting them all pulled at once, so you never have to worry about them again... and think of the cost savings on dental floss... wow... with that much savings over 20 years... you could just buy a new ibook

***
"Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms"
--Clint Eastwood in The Outlaw Josey Wales
getting your wisdom teeth pulled is totally different for every person that gets it done. Too many variables involved to say if it'll be good or bad for you.

1. the dentist - if the dentist is very very new, maybe it's his first time doing it? it's gonna suck. If the dentist is in the middle of his career, then who knows... if he's really good, then you might get lucky. If he sucks, then you're screwed regardless. If he's really old and is tapping all of the hygenists, then you're in for a good time (maybe)... too many variables in that one.

2. the office where the dentist is doing the "surgery" - are the walls blue or pink? or really really bright white? this will affect your mood and will thus help make it a good ro bad experience.... what color is the carpet? maroon - then you're in trouble... it's that color to keep the blood stains from ruining it. blue - same deal... beige? then you're okay... if it's laminate/marble - then you're screwed again... it's that way for easy clean up of all the blood... good luck...

3. the hygenist - is she a FOX? or really ugly? this should let you know if she's smart... remember the uglier people are, the smarter they have to be to succeed...

4. you - are you strong minded? or weak minded? do you already think it will hurt a lot? do you think it'll be a walk in the park? your mindset and strength of will will either hurt you or help you through this period....

5. your body - do you heal easily or slowly? is your jaw too small for your teeth? is your tounge connected to the bottom of the inside of your mouth? do you have three eyes? your body is also a variable to consider.

If it takes longer than an hour for them to get out all of your wisdom teeth, then you're screwed, because your jaw muscles are going to kill you regardless of how bad your gums hurt...

It's not that bad... shut up and quit being a puss and go get them taken out

(disclaimer: all of the above references to he/she are made in jest... it could easily be the other way around... but the comment about ugly people having to be smart is a paraphrase of something Chris Rock said in a movie... so I'm not taking the blame for that one being slightly off-color... it's a good line, IMO)

john

***
"Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms"
--Clint Eastwood in The Outlaw Josey Wales
i had all 4 of mine pulled back in 1992. i remember going to the oral surgeon's office and being pretty freaked out. i sat in the chair and put my walkman over my ears and opened my mouth. i felt a little tension, but not enough to hurt -- more of the vibration, but again, it didn't hurt while he was working. when he removed my third wisdom tooth, he said, "all done." somehow, one side of my mouth went so fast that he removed 2 and i only thought he had removed 1. that made me quite happy.

i can't swallow pills so i didn't take the pain killers they sent home with me. in actuality, i felt some pain, but not enough to really, really hurt. my face did not swell up and one side turned a slightly darker shade. i was playing basketball the very next day (took my mind off of the tenderness). all-in-all the hype beforehand was much, much worse than the event and aftermath. that being said, i am glad they are gone.

[color:blue] -sean
