Ay - on this scooter I'm not legally required to take the CBT (compulsory bike test) course that we have over here, but I'm booking on one anyway before I go out on the road - I've only ever driven cars and vans (or cycled), so zipping along at 30mph amongst cars I definitely need some pointers, plus there are some habits from cycling that need unlearning for scooting, I'm told.

Incidentally, steve, before this I rode a Dahon Impulse P21 with a Heinzmann electric system (pretty much the best) fitted which was great - a folder AND electric motor! But grumbling prostates and bike saddles are mutually exclusive in the worst way, so I'm trying to sell the bike whilst awaiting the scooter.

I'm just hoping that I don't get whapped by some mid-life crisis round 2 (round 1 finds me with an iPod I don't use or want, dammit) and find myself with a Harley and a bank loan...

- padmavyuha

Where the truth is, there had better be love...

Even though I have had my license for about 20 years, I took one of the courses about 3 years ago for an insurance discount. They had a range of small bikes, and I had a 200, which is much smaller than mine.

The main factor is that they teach you skills that are necessary on any bike and the course is well worth it. The safety classes are more to teach safety skills as compared to teaching one to ride.
