Almost forgot my weekly posting of how my son's soccer team did. Today's game was pretty bad. The opposite team had only 9 players, so we played 9 v. 9, and slaughtered them. I think they crossed midfield only three times in the whole game. We did everything we could to even things out--we even had our goalie playing forward, which was pretty funny because he seemed surprised every time the ball came to him: do I pick it up? what do I do???

But the other team's goalie was absolutely first rate. If it hadn't been for him, we would have scored 12 or 15 times, easily.

One reason the opposing team was not so good is that five of the kids from that town had come over to my town, to play for our "A" team. That A team is pretty good, but I'll tell you one thing, it's full of prima donnas and super-egos who are really hard to take. An interesting sidelight: the coach of that A team was recruiting two kids from our team to play indoors this winter. Both of our kids refused to go over. They prefer having fun to winning (not that we're doing too shabbily--5-1 so far, with two games left to go).

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
Glad to hear the kids prefer fun to winning... because without the fun, the winning kind of sucks anyway!

[color:red] Kiss My Banana!

Ahh that is so good and huggie and great and all. Maybe even Kissey Pooh.

If I was the coach I would have played with my regular start up team and Completely Creamed that other team, leave no kid on the opposing team kicking any ball.

That would "Then maybe teach the other coach to play THE game".

Is that what they teach Kids there??
To get hands on butt whipping at a discount???

Edited by carp on 10/28/02 02:27 AM (server time).

Well, we couldn't help beating their butts, even with the goalie playing forward. We're just that good, carp!

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
