I think American Dad was agreed upon before they brought back Family guy, hence the same formula.

I agree, it was nice seeing a new Family Guy...not the best but great that it is back.

American Dad was okay...the first one after the Super Bowl was worse though, hopefully it will improve. Maybe they need to move it away from the Family Guy so it does not look like a mirror episode.

I was worried that Family Guy would suffer from too much hype. Hopefully people will remember that there are more than a few "ehh okay" episodes on their season 1-3 DVDs. But American Dad? Let it go...

-------
Aren't you a little old for post-modern nostalgic irony?
Could not agree more.

I'm happy Family Guy is back. There's always pressure to be the best ever when trying to make a come back. I laughed and was entertained so FG gets my vote.

For me it was the one, two punch of when Brian slips up about the kid with the upside down head and the way Stuie looks up at him, I just about died. Then right after that, Brian drag races across the carpet. I couldn't stop laughing.
