I can't really figure it out either.

A runaway bride gets cold feet? How many times a day does that happen? This is like the Scott Peterson thing...it's a top story because the media decided it was.

Nothing more than a programming decision.

Yup and she should be forced to reimburse all the costs for the investigation. AND she should be sentenced to community service working with people who HAVE been abducted and abused. Maybe even toss in an apology to every 911 caller who was put on the back burner because of her case. I initially had some sympathy for her but it's beginning to look more and more like she's just childish and self-centered, without any regard for others. How, for one second, did she think the bride from a marriage joining two prominent, well-to-do families WOULDN'T result in a massive manhunt and wall-to-wall news coverage?

Right Mike

Well at-lease the Coast Guard will charge you for a phony rescue and a stupid rescue, like you ran out of gas or hiking somewhere thats prohibited.

Anyway the bride has got to a little ditzy - and with that so called money they have hire someone one to plan the wedding for them, how hard could that be ?

Maybe she knew all that and was desperate enough to do it anyway. Maybe she didn't think about it because she was not thinking rationally at all. I think she needs mental help and a little sympathy. Judge not lest ye be judged.

"I think she needs mental help and a little sympathy."

Puhleeze! She needs a good swift kick in the ass. Then she can kick me. Oh yeah. You know I like it rough, my little runaway. I'm gonna ride you like a Greyhound to New Mexico. Make that left turn at Albuquerque. Make it! Oh, oh, oh....

Well I don't think that jail time should be the way to go. However she should be "shamed" and apologize to those who searched.

If the court wants a jail term - then the judge should just marry the couple, to the man she was trying to run from

I agree that she should have to pay, but she hasn't broken any laws in Georgia. Perhaps and activist judge can intervene and help the DA out. I think the DA is hedging because they have no clue what to charge her with.

She did lie to cops in another state, NM, so they would have better luck. I wonder if she talked with cops in Georgia because that's the only way I could see them getting her. Sucks that she could get away with this.
