However, I keep asking the several photo labs I use if they're seeing a slowdown in folks bringing film in for processing .. "Not much", they say.

Cool! I love shooting film.

****************
Any slow down I suspect is because of what people already have, like yourself. What they don't see is a steady growth, like 10% a year rather more flat-line

Jaz took mine on a Photo shoot

I just dug out my Pentax Asahi Spotmatic. Nice metal case camera. However, I think it is going up on eBay along with my second generation digital cameras.

Digital photography has fully arrived. It's the future and always will be. But there's just something so damn fundamental about using a camera like the Spotmatic. It's a magnificent tool that's built like a tank. One on hand, you can use it to take beautiful photographs, yet on the other, you can drive nails with it in an emergency.

Using a film camera is getting back to the core basic of it all. It's like pushing away from the computer, grabbing a spiral-bound notbook and a pencil and finding a quiet place to just write.

I'll always use digital. But I'll never give up my film cameras.

****************
I am going to keep my Olympic 35MM camera, a newer one with more automatic features (because I forget how to use the thing at times) in case I should need slides or 35MM film.

It looks like the Pentax Asahi Spotmatic is only worth about $50-60 with the lens I have.

The gold standard in photo processing is the Fuji Frontier.....they cost a few hundred thousand dollars. Those machines use photo paper and photo chemicals to print digital prints (which is why it looks so good.)

Aside from the initial developing of the negative when people bring it in, there's not much difference on the back end.
