Right thats one big reason for all steel besides the termites. The company prides itself for being Green Friendly, even if steel cost more per stick then wood but its faster to build with steel

My dissatisfaction about wood structural framing stems from the fact that, more and more, they aren't using properly dried wood, and it's causing a lot more settling/shrinkage problems than it used to in the old days.

I rarely go into any new houses these days and find zero places where shrinkage hasn't caused sheetrock cracking and door sticking.

Oh yeah big time, I hate wood too like you said they come so wet now you build it and later have to go back and replace the warp and twisted ones. Yes the wood shrinks, settles and creaks.

btw; We use pre-hung steel door frames with a real nice weather strip for all exterior doors, our doors never stick.

Bryan;
The siding and trims is Hardy Panel a 92% cement fiber board never riots.
The beams and roof sheeting is all man made products, we really try not to use any wood if we don't have too. Now if we can find someone that can fabricate Steel Roof Trusses we will certainly use those.
