So, this is rumor, but is most likely true (since TS is so accurate they get sued ).

2.7 GHz powermacs, nearly 2 years after their original release at 2.0 GHz. Remeber the 3.0 GHz that was supposed to happen last summer? Looks like another year hasn't been much help. They are also still expected to be single core (Intel has already released dual-core Pentiums this year), so after nine months since being updated.... bleh.

WTH is up with RISC processor engineering? The G5 is probably still hanging in their with AMD and Intel's simiar lines, but they just never live up to their roadmap like the CISC groups do. And, here we are back to playing catch up again, after the original release of the G5 was such an ambitious jump.

3.0 GHz would be nice but I wish we could at least keep up with the video cards.
The new PowerMac should at least have PCI Express.
Yes, you are right, I was hoping the processors would be dual-core 970MP.

Well

PC wise might be great for games, yet again the need for speed.
However on a large company network PCs are frigging real slow and the PCs really need a speed boost to like 5,000 to be decent at best.

Proc speed means nothing to me from both sides.
I would like to see how a Mac can handle a 500 network environment ? I all ready know that PCs suck speed wise no matter how fast in this eviro - I will say that there is a matter of how the IT has set up the network system.

It's the same thing as always...all these great processor ideas, architectures and theories look so good on paper, but they can't produce a significant yield to be able to ship it in Macs in quantity.

I always laugh when I read some forums...

"I'm hoping this one will be dual-core!"

"Looks like the QX is just around the corner!"

"Hopefully with IBM's obscure, unnattainable, ambitious roadmap on the Internet somehwere, the Powerbook G5 will ship in the 3rd quarter of 2008!"

Now, granted, Jobs promised 3ghz...but it's almost like as soon as he said it, I was like "uh-huh."

I used to want a G4 tower, because it was expandable (4 hard drives and 2 optical drives) and because it had that nifty trap door.

When the G5 came out, Apple had jacked up the prices, created a tower that was gigantic, could only hold two hard drives and one optical drive, and looked like a cheese grater. Then, they finally released a 2.5ghz machine with a radiator...made by Delphi! Is the body by Fisher?

Now I know people here have G5's and are happy with them, but some of the above just might account for the piss-poor sales of the current pro tower line.

I have it souped-up to the highest heavens with a X800XT video card and 2.5 GB of memory.
But I do high end video editing so I could use an even faster computer and video card.
I did not know PowerMac sales are down.
But there is no surprise there. PowerMacs are expensive.
