My sister sent this link about her oldest son, Derek. I knew he was pretty good...but it's nice reading this about him
Granted they had a losing season, I'm very much proud of him.

http://www.hoopmasters.com/article.php?aid=1112834349

April 6, 2005
Kentucky Junior Drawing Interest
By Matt Haas email@example.com

Like most small town schools, Derek Scott is "Mr. Everything" for his high school basketball team, however the difference is Scott backs it up!

To record a double-double at 6-4 is a pretty impressive feat, however to do it in 21 out of 25 games in a season is even more impressive.

That's exactly what 6-4 185-pound junior wing guard/forward Derek Scott accomplished this past season at Dawson Springs, KY.

Scott averaged 21.1 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game during his junior campaign for the Panthers, who finished their season 7-19.

However, according to Dawson Springs head coach Wayne Simpson those seven victories are the most the program has had in the past six years.

"That is the most wins we have had since 1999," Simpson said. "We also lost a lot of close games, which if we would have hit a good percentage of free throws we should have won."

Although the Panthers, did not make it into double digit wins this past season, Scott was a major reason for the improved season.

"Derek is our 'Mr. Everything'. He plays all five positions for us and can excel in all of them," Simpson stated. "He was among the leaders in scoring and rebounding in the state this past season."

Simpson also added that Scott usually plays the high post in their Princeton style offense his program runs.

"He primarily fills the high post in a Princeton style offense because no one else fills the need like he does," Simpson added. "Derek is a winner and a competitor. He will be playing with the Kentucky Junior All-Stars this summer."

Scott, who earned all-district honors during both his sophomore and junior seasons, is currently hearing from Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, Morehead State, as well as Division II powerhouses Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan.

Continue to check in with Hoopmasters.com to stay informed of Scott's recruiting status as the spring AAU season gets underway.
