Something I've grown exceedingly tired of are these "in-depth" looks at athletes before championship (or regular season) games.

"Dave Austin is playing in his first national championship game. But it's a dream that almost didn't happen ..."

"As Lindsey Johnson suits up for tonight's game, thoughts go back to the moment where all of this seemed improbable..."

"10 years ago, as his family struggled to leave oppression, Jabbari MJbagbagge had never heard of the University of...."

UGGGGHHHHH

I don't care!

Idon'tcare, Idon'tcare, IDON'TCARE!

You know what I care about? The game. That's what I care about. I don't care about the car accident 15 years ago .. I don't care about the alcoholic father .. I don't care about the dyslexia .. I don't care about the stuggle to leave Jamaica .. I don't care about the ADD ...

Please .. can we go back to an era when we focused on the game at hand and that's IT!? A time where we didn't have 15 hour pre-game shows, where time had to be filled so content had to be created. Can we just get back to a focus on *just* the game? Please? Ah yes...the pussification of sports.

"Jamal Turner is batting .350 with 50 home runs these days, but it wasn't that long ago that he was....."

Because they are trying to market the sport to as many demographics as possible, each athlete needs a "backstory."

No comment on the......

The Falcons have won every meeting between these two teams since 1990......

A time when all of the current players were in college and the head coaches were assistants on two completely different teams.

Truth is a 3 edged sword.

I actually don't like sports that much. I do watch sometimes because they provide more than just the sports. I really like the olympics and often find myself rooting for people from other countries just because of the stories. I do see your point though. It must suck for real sports fans. I guess the networks know the real fans will stick around and that they'll pick up the wives and others as well by providing stories.
