For general light use, there's not much difference.

But if you navigate to a lot of secure sites, Outlook Webmail or a lot of banking sites...Safari is like surfing the internet with concrete shoes on.

Satellite is like that anyway on any browser. As I told Topper, satellite connection is not ideal for secure sites. They use something called web acceleration that is not available with some secure sites. It is that way on all platforms. A lot of people on the Broadband forum can't get on secure sites at all. So Firefox loses it's edge there. It is like cement shoes with any browser. There one or two that you have to use Firefox with but for the majority it is like a slug anyway.

I'm doing web development and Safari has managed to freeze up my whole computer (okay, maybe I shouldn't display the whole database at once, 16000 records). Though, Safari is a bit faster with general use.

about 1/2 of the responses came from a forum that wasn't mac-related. so, most of those folks were PC users. i was surprised to see IE being used so little. some of the mac users obviously used firefox, but many of the PC users did as well. that's encouraging.

now, IE will always rule for those people who just aren't very into technology and most people participating in online forums are going to be a little beyond the average surfer.

--
Straw-man rhetorical techniques are the practice of refuting weaker arguments than one's opponents offer. 2 "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is 2 create a position easily refuted, then attribute that position to your opponent.
