The new America get tough on any and everything remotely titillating (that's right I said titillating), put someone in jail for 20 years for possession of banned weed, but if you commit a violent crime or walk around with a gun bought on the black market and ehh probation and don't do that again .

uh huh.

--
Straw-man rhetorical techniques are the practice of refuting weaker arguments than one's opponents offer. 2 "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is 2 create a position easily refuted, then attribute that position to your opponent.

Well, considering this is legislation being proposed by a Democrat at the state level, I'd say it has nothing to do with the Bush administration

nobody said dubya . . . the implication is that the election had a big emphasis on trying to bring back the good old days, which you'd expect from our gov't. even the democrats of the good old days are personified by the zell millers of the world. so, this state level legislator is merely pandering to the constituents who vote these days.

--
Straw-man rhetorical techniques are the practice of refuting weaker arguments than one's opponents offer. 2 "set up a straw man" or "set up a straw-man argument" is 2 create a position easily refuted, then attribute that position to your opponent.
