I followed the help and set up everything correctly, but Mail just doesn't want to start downloading the gMail. Also, what I find weird is that in the gMail settings/Forwarding and POP I switch on the radio button which says: Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded) and save the changes, but when i return to these settings, none of the three radio buttons are selected? Any help would be appreciated.

That's it. If you go back to it, none of the buttons will be pushed, but it will say above it that it is been enabled.

Also, I'm sending and receiving e-mail through Mozilla with Gmail just fine, using their server both ways. I also have my Panther Firewall full up. Looks like there's no issue after all.
I have mine working just fine. When you set it up via mail pay close attention to the port numbers. ...and make sure you have the SSL connection checked.

I find it easier to just forward the gmail to another email address I have so that I have a copy on my computer, and the gmail inbox.

Just the inbox.

What you really want is Gmail to enable IMAP support, so everything is mirrored on your computer. Hopefully soon!
