I've easily got 50 accounts to give away. Not only does nobody seem to want one, I think they'd call the police if I signed them up without asking.

Gmail went from hot to not.

well, i gave away 180 invitations so far. i wouldn't say it's uncool in my neighbourhood. besides, it's the usability that counts, not the coolness. if it was for the coolness the gmail logo would kill it in one instant. btw, all google logos suck big time! :)

very soon i think. i wonder how will they handle the whole invitation only thing. it would be extremely lame to just open it fully, but i think that's what they'll do.

Gmail is short for Google Mail, which is Google's free, web-based e-mail service. It is currently in the beta testing stage, and is not open to the public.

if you know somebody, they can send you a free invite, then you'll have an account.

What's great about it is that it offers 1GB of free storage, plus free POP access, both of which Yahoo charges money for.

I read somewhere that they have something like 25 million gmail users already. Considering that it's already nearly impossible to get a decent email name, I'm going to be really pissed if when they finally do officially launch, they make beta testers re-register and have to fight to get our username back!
