Loc: Lancaster PA USA
I just ran across a link to video of a young German guitarist, Joscho Stephan, and thought some of you might enjoy a break from what you're used to hearing.

After recalling the great memories I have of seeing gypsy jazz guitarist Biréli Lagrène and violinist Stephane Grappelli when they played (at separate gigs) in the Harrisburg PA area back in the mid-late 1980's, my next thoughts were: The guy is young, probably looking to make a name for himself and probably commands a fairly inexpensive fee. What a hell of a "get" it would be for our local jazz society to book a performance by him the next (first?) time he comes to the US.

Holy smokes, you ought to have a listen/look at the video of this 21-year-old German guitarist phenom. [color:DARKCYAN]His personal website is in German but you can [color:DARKCYAN]view the video here.

A full-screen version of the video, with the Flash object disengaged from the rest of the page elements [color:DARKCYAN]can be viewed here. D/L-wise, it'll be the same file size as clicking the link above:

In either case, you'll have to wait for a short site-identifier blurb to play at the beginning, then, pay attention to the video load status at the top right of the red player window. When it hits 100%, just hit the "Play" button at the bottom.

I'm always enormously happy when I run across stuff like this, not only because it sounds so good, but also because it acts as an effective antidote to 99% of the crapmusic we're force-fed by the media machine every day of our lives.

Vive la differénce!

Man, that took a while (like 2 hours) to download and watch. Quite the accomplished guitarist...although I think anyone that plays above the 3rd fret is just showing off.

Question. Can a flash presentation like that be saved? I tried it but it didn't work.
