As any designer in here will probably tell you, FontBook isn't really good for anything above a few hundred fonts.

Give the Suitcase, or my personal fave- Font Agent Pro- demo a whirl and see how you manage with either of those...

[color:red]"Now Venture'll send Samson after the rest of us and he'll go totally
sickhouse on our asses! thanks pete, I download font agent pro, and it seems that for font management it copy fonts files, like the font book, I don't know if every program of fonts in os x works the same way, atm on sistem 9 maybe manage fonts in another way, the problem is that with all the fonts I have I must find the correct way to manage them, I think that if it makes a duplicate of each file, or move it to library/fonts, mi machine would be a mess, what do you think?

Thanks a lot

You have the option of copying or moving your font library with FAP- I would recommend the 'copying' option- but only in case your library gets corrupted somehow, you can always re-import the original set.

Here's what I usually do- Import my existing library of fonts (kept somewhere off to the side, not in Home folder) using the 'copy' method, then I just leave the original library where it is, and whenever I import new fonts I also put a copy of that font in that original library.

Your machine shouldn't be a mess at all. Insider Software recommends keeping the default location for your imported fonts to be your user folder, and when it imports them it contains everything in a main directory labeled 'Font Agent Pro Fonts'. Then it segregates all your fonts into alphabetical folders, along with 'Problem Fonts' and duplicates (which are not actually imported into FAP)...

The only reason I would say to keep the original library is because the only difficulty I've had with the application was related to my fonts getting somehow converted to Unix files, and the program wasn't recognizing them when I tried to re-import (after numerous times of copying files around, and to a new machine as well)...

Here's what I mean:

Hope that helps- PM me if you have any more questions about the program...

[color:red]"Now Venture'll send Samson after the rest of us and he'll go totally
sickhouse on our asses! Suitcase will use your fonts wherever and however you want them organized. It doesn't move or copy any fonts, it simply activates them from wherever you have them. It's the one feature that makes Suitcasae better than all the rest, IMO.

Personally, I'd rather have my font program tinkering with a copy of my fonts than the originals....unless you choose to make use of a backup set- which I would do regardless of which app or method you decide to go with...

[color:red]"Now Venture'll send Samson after the rest of us and he'll go totally
sickhouse on our asses!
