The Bush policy of not having any thing to do with Arafat seems to be working. After Abu mazen is elected he sends police forces to try and stop terrorist strikes into Israel. This is something Arafat could have done a long time ago. But being the terrorist he was he could not get himself to do it. I guess he was to busy stealing the money donated by european governments and keeping his wife in posh digs in paris. Good riddance Yassir.

Edited by rigger on 01/28/05 06:14 PM (server time).

Arafat became intolerable after he turned down the 2000 Camp David offer.

The Palestinians are unlikely to get as sweet a deal as what Ehud Barak offered Arafat:

* Israeli redeployment from 95% of the West Bank and 100% of the Gaza Strip
* The creation of a Palestinian state in the areas of Israeli withdrawal
* The removal of isolated settlements and transfer of the land to Palestinian control
* Other Israeli land exchanged for West Bank settlements remaining under Israeli control
* Palestinian control over East Jerusalem, including most of the Old City
* "Religious Sovereignty" over the Temple Mount, replacing Israeli sovereignty in effect since 1967

In return Arafat had to declare the "end of conflict" and agree that no further claims on Israel could be made in the future.

He walked out.
