Not that I don't want cheap Macs, I don't think Apple can make a good Mac for $500.
Office software - if as an update to AppleWorks, yes, but not as an MS Office competitor. Maybe in a few years if OpenOffice gains popularity, Apple could make a suite that is binary compatible to that, but the market is not ready for it yet.

For Garage Band 2 I want to see an undockable palette for the loop browser pane, so you could put it on a second monitor. It'd be cool to be able to add categories, and generally shuffle loops around in the browser. Organization is OK, but navigation could be much better. I don't know how it could be done, but I find it rather unwieldy right now.

The track window should also be resizable from top to bottom, similar to the way it works for left to right. Or, it'd be cool if you could group tracks in a manner similar to the way you can create layer sets in Photoshop. Roll 'em out when you want to edit, roll 'em back up when you don't.

I bet that there will be some refinements to the UI in GB2, Spark. We'll see soon enough! Cheers.

PS. Hey, if you have some time, please check out this thread and offer any feedback you might have to share... skip down to the part where I ask about guitar stuff. Thanks.

max

Fresh Diversions
i would be happy with an upgrade to keynote.

i would also like to see iLife get an upgrade. i use all of the iLife apps, though since the D70 i have stopped using iPhoto very often. i have renewed interest in iMovie and iDVD after ignoring them for much of the past year and a half. i started playing with them again in early december when i got my new miniDV 3CCD camera and i am shooting more video than i can manage. i wish iMovie has an export function to flash (swf). i currently use sorensen squeeze, but it's just a hassle and time consuming to export twice. not sure they can do it, but sorensen does it so why not apple?

on the hardware front, i will be interested in hearing about the new cell phone, though i doubt i can afford it. i have been holding off on getting a new phone, but i am not getting my hopes up either. plus, i have verizon. verizon tends to have the worst phones and is the slowest to bring new feature-laden phones to the market. i don't care about any new machines, though i hope the cheap headless imac is a success.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato

Yeah, that's pretty indicative that at least part of those rumors have some truth to them ...

On an unrelated note, I finally caught an episode of the Venture Bros. last weekend -- what a riot!
