I would call that 1.0 in name only. 1.0 is generally the first public release. But then again, with Public Betas and all this nonsense, I guess it's ok.

Remember when software companies did their own beta testing and released stable products? Those were the days.

Two big WOOTS for the speed. A copy of Firefox will have to be handy for rocket surfing.

I don't get it. I would think that Apple/Safari could take a peek under the hood of this thing and rip off the speed boost without being caught. I just went through a bunch of slow loading sites and they were all completely loaded by the time I finished a mouse_up.

I dl'd the one written for the g5 and it's super-fast. I'm too default-y going to Safari all the time. If I could break the habit, I know I'd use Firefox more... It is fast... woot woot... there's my two woots...

Holy crapanooony I was trying out FoxFire on a airported 12inch powerbook and it screamed. I just tried it on a liquid cooled G5 and it is freakishly fast. Heavily loaded and poorly coded pages at NIH which are dog slow seem to be painted on my screen before I click on the link. I've tried pages I have never been to so it is not tricking me by caching. I might need to relearn my tabbing routine if Safari cannot do this soon.

add-on: I just downloaded huge chunks of DNA sequence as windows of text. (You normally wouldn't do it this way as it is usually very slow.) I have not found one which does not complete before I can pull to the end of the page.
Amazing.
