well, there's no chance kerry wins those provisional ballots with enough of a margin to win ohio. it's well past over.<br><br>the popular vote just doesn't matter in our election system. the election was clearly very even. we haven't seen a majority president since the 80s, but we have seen a majority winner who didn't become president (thus, the small margin = meaningless). so the majority with this small of a margin is not a mandate by any stretch since a man can win it without becoming president, though the fact that republicans picked up seats in the house and senate sure looks bad for dems. dubya is going to have to stop talking about many of the social issues that helped elect him and start acting on them. people want to see action (i think . . . then again, perhaps talk is enough??). <br><br><br>--<br>one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato
