so, i have at&t wireless (which was just bought by cingular). i bought a motorola V600. it arrived and is broken. then have no more available, so i have to pick a new phone. i wanted it because of the bluetooth. they have 2 other bluetooth phones, but i can't really justify spending $200 for one of them (the other is still $80) -- my V600 was free with rebates. any recommendations on the phone. perhaps i don't need bluetooth???

Sony Ericsson T637

click to see the phone details $269.99 (Retail Price)
-$190.00 instant rebate $79.99

Details

* Bluetooth enabled; Infrared support
* Built-in CommuniCam(trademark) Digital Camera
* IM Ready AOL (R) Pre-installed AOL (R) Instant Messenger TM, Yahoo! I have the T637 and have no complaints. However, my main reason for selecting it is that I had all of the accessories already (those from my T68i).

I am not much help and I would never spend that much on any phone - All I want is good reception not fancy features.

I have a Motorola i88 with Nextel as the service provider - piece of frigging shiit - The radio function works okay but the cell phone function is horrible and completely unreliable and of-course they blame each other.

People tell me that the flip up type of phones are better ??
Anyway I don't think that anything Moto should be looked at.

i use voice dial. i also like the flip-up phones more than not. i don't use a lot of features, but i like to fiddle. whether i want to pay for fiddling is another matter. i doubt i'd use the IM features on some phones. i would probably use bluetooth just one time to get my contact info into my phone. then again, it's on my non bluetooth phone now so i'll have to transfer to the computer and then to the new phone. it's probably just as easy to skip my computer and just program it into the new phone. so, i think i'll look at just any phone.

i doubt i'd play much with a camera in my phone. i doubt i'll ever use the cell phone for internet.

yeah, at the end of the day, i just want the phone that has the best reception.

--
one of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. -Plato

Voice dial ???
You mean you can just say call so and so and the phone dials ??? Now that I can use. Pisses me off that every time I have to put on my glasses to read the menus on the phone.

I've been happy with my V600, despite some bluetooth problems (which aren't "mission critical" anyway).

If you use your phone's on-board voice-dailing feature, check out ATTW's VoiceDial service. Web-based addy book, up tp 2,000 number capacity, and far better voice recognition than the built-in feature.
