In response to the photoshopped Bush campaign ad where they duplicated people in the audience, Lockhart said:

"Now we know why this ad is named `Whatever it Takes.' ...Unless George Bush [campaign] has changed its position on human cloning, it's got to pull this fundamentally dishonest ad immediately."

I thought that was pretty clever.

....and just to think, it could have been run under the caption - reasons why Bush does not believe a draft is required!

Really? In the LA times the spokesman admitted to the photoshoppery as a means to remove bush at a podium in the picture. They also claimed it would be pulled and replaced with a new ad tomorrow.

Probably a been there, done that, bought the t-shirt thing. He did it when he was running for govnr of TX, and won. Why do you think hashing that sort of thing would affect the presidential election.

I don't thimk it should be hashed out, but what I said was that if it had been JK or Teresa flipping off the camera 10 or 20 years ago it would be the number one topic and probably be fatal to his campaign. But in this case, the Bush lovers and the media seem to praise the gesture as a sign of machismo and defiant character.

As it goes, ABC did air a blurred out picture of Bush's oh-so born again gesture to the camera in their segment on the recent campaign ad slimefest.

Chalk another one up to a great piece of journalistic interest.

Just adds to my bias against the media. You hear around the water cooler - I don't care what GWB/JFK did 30 years ago, I want to hear what's the candidates plan to do tomorrow.

But the media doesn't want to report facts or "boring words". They want a soap opera - they need to have a villian and a hero of the piece (based on their slant). So depending upon which one you listen to
- GWB is evil incarnate. He is personally responsible for killing 1000 young men. He personally lost 380 tons of high grade explosives. He avoided going to war. He's personally going to make sure that if your black you won't get to vote. If he wins and you're on welfare expect a knock on the door, it'll be GWB coming to take your welfare check (if you're lucky - he might also take your belongings and sacrifice your first born on the altar of corporate greed). He's going to personally drag young men off to a combat zone to die a horrible painful death. BUT do not fear JFK will save you (details not important).
- JFK is evil incarnate. He's a Liberal. His wife only pays 12% taxation (I'd vote for him if he'd let me get on that tax plan). He drives an SUV, but says he doesn't own any. He threw someone elses medals over a fence. He's a war criminal. If you have money he'll tax it. His running mate destroyed our healthcare system. Dan Rather is his lap dog. He's a liar. He's a flip-flopper. He will join the European Union. He will invite terrorists in to kill US citizens. BUT have no fear GWB will kill terrorists.
