Hi Folks,

Just wanted to get your feedback on something...

As we head into next week's expo there is going to be a lot of content we dish out to you every day. Normally we try to keep the home page news items limited to a 24 hour period (or more depending on how busy the news is), but during expo I can see the page getting quite long.

Now we have a few ideas in terms of design that we will launch on Monday to make it easier for you to navigate all of the announcements from the show, but my question is this...

Would you rather see more items on the home page in the spirit of keeping the news comprehensive, or would you prefer us to keep the home page size smaller for a faster download? The problem I see with that is that because of the volume of news each day, you will be forced to go to page two unless you visit very frequently.

I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter, particularly after we launch the Expo Edition home page tomorrow - so you can see what we have already done to make things a little easier (and faster) for your news fix.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Cheers,

Stan
How's about having all the "big stuff" on the main page, with perhaps a one-liner pointing to smaller stories on a special MWNY page?

John
[color:red]I don't need no steenkin' signature!

This is a version of John Lasruk's suggestion: how about headlines on the main page, with links to more details on a second page?

[edit: spelling]

And that's true too.--Shakespeare, King Lear
Edited by yoyo52 on 07/15/01 11:46 PM (server time).

I'd have to agree with the folks that the major headlines should come on the homepage, with a more "indepth" coverage section by days, hours, or whatever break down you guys figure is best...

perhaps instead of by a time period you could break it down by the "sections" of the expo: Apple, Developer Connection, Multimedia area, Education, etc...

Up to you guys, but I'd like a slim homepage, so I can scan it at work for the important stuff, and then read the details on a seperate page that night or later if I choose to read it later...

Thanks for asking Stan... class act my friend... class act....

***
"Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms"
--Clint Eastwood in The Outlaw Josey Wales
