A Great Dane has a great story to tell.
A pooch in Port Orchard has given birth to several adorable puppies, but the stork must have been working
overtime.
Debbie Hand has a few more mouths to feed around the
house. Her Great Dane Delilah delivered 19 thoroughbred
registered Great Dane puppies.
So for now, their kiddie pool is full of adorable puppies who
crave constant attention and require constant feeding and
cleaning.
There's no way Delilah could have handled all this by herself.
But even with the helping hands of humans, looking after the
puppies is an exhausting job.
When the Hands first learned Delilah was expecting, they
were planning on about five puppies. But during a prenatal
exam, veterinarian Craig Adams noticed the X-ray was telling
a different story.
He counted 13, maybe 15. But when it came time for the C-section...
"We just kept pulling them out," said Adams.
Doc Adams believes Delilah and her pups set a record around these parts.
Sadly, two of the pups didn't make it and Delilah senses that.
Delilah is doing fine, but Debbie thinks this will be the Great Dane's one and only
chance at motherhood.
Anyone wanting to buy a puppy should e-mail the family at email@example.com.
Online at: http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW_092404ANBpuppiesKC.95f72f5.html
