Anybody else starting to think that the real point of the off-topic back and forths isn't to sway opinion using mud?<br><br>Seems to me the real point is to discourage voter turn out. It's the old divide and conquer. If you can prevent the undecideds from voting then all you have to do is energize your base. So they make the general public have a distaste for the process.<br><br>Don't believe the hype...they don't want you to choose sides...they want you to give up.<br><br>
All the talking heads go on and on about the undecideds. The biggest slice of pie out there is the would be voter who never gets his or her lazy butt out and actually vote. I think that is what the rancor is for. Don't know if it works but if you can demonize the opponent you may turn off a voter. But if you make your opponent look like the devil incarnate then maybe one of those lazy souls will get off the couch and vote to spare the country of a demon running and ruining the country.<br><br>The sad fact is that negative campaigning works.
