For what it's worth:

Wipe the slate and start clean - there's bad stuff along with the good; flush it all out and start afresh. I have to say, out of all of the message boards i've seen and used i think this forum looks the best. However I'm fine with whatever you want to go with.

1) I would like to just keep this forum up but locked unless you're able to get old threads into the new board easily
2) We can always reregister names
3) Rank doesn't matter, I'll be back up to 6K soon enough ;)

And the political forum is grate thing, thanks!

what you can do (and i did too) is to limit the max space for a user and the whole board, so you can make sure that your forum doesn't get flooded with two hundred 300MB files every day. you can allow like 5MB per head. that's enough for a year for most users for uploading screenshots and ocassional digipicts and this forum doesn't have more than 100 very active users, so that makes it 500MB for attachements for a year. that's not a big of a deal. it doesn't cost much, and easy to maintain.

That may be a fine plan, Ira...to limit attachments, in whichever way.

But really: How many people DON'T have access to some free serverr space along with their ISP account? (I'm asking...I don't really have actual figures on this question, of course) I'm operating under the belief that most people do, and they can load their images there and serve them up inline with their forum replies themselves. No real detriment to MM's servers.

Barring that, there are plenty of places online to house images that will allow direct hotlinking and display on forums like this one.

Setting up a forum's permissions to allow attachments is kind of an antiquated procedure, if you ask me.
