keyes is about the smartest idiot ever. i am sure he knows he has no chance and figures he can use the platform to try and advance his ideals. however, i think he is so far out of touch that he could actually advance the gay marriage or at least same sex benefits cause forward.

"Tribal sovereignty means that, it's sovereign. You're a—you've been given sovereignty, and you're viewed as a sovereign entity. And, therefore, the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities." dubya 8.6.04
Now you see what we have to deal with in Illinois?!

Alan Keyes is doing about as much damage to the Illinois GOP as a tyrannosaurus in an amusement park. At first, everyone around the state thought Keyes was out there to rouse the base into the booths and salvage some races down the ticket, but now all he is doing is making a caricature of the state Republican platform, which had been completely moderate, reasonable, and not to mention damn popular until George Ryan had his scandals.

The National Republican Party has had Illinois written off for some time. They say that Illinois is becoming increasingly Democratic (big D), but I think the Republicans have just nationally moved away from the Illinois voter (moderate, pro-public education, pro-choice, pro-gun control) and are trying to bleed some of that horrible national partisanship into state offices.

-- Charlie Alpha Roger Yankee Whiskey
He's completely off his rocker...first the 'Obama is a slavemaster' remark and now this. This is supposed to get him elected how?

Donating to the Alan Keyes for Senate campaign could be the biggest waste of money known to man.
