I was listening to some legal analysts POV's last night on the radio, and their take on it was they see the criminal case falling apart within the next couple of weeks, if that.
That's why the accuser is seeking a criminal case for monetary compensation because the burden of proof is not as critical in a civil case vs. a criminal case ITO.
I guess we'll see soon enough.

While we'll never know the whole truth, my gut tells me the only thing he is guilty of is cheating on his wife.

If I were him, I'd countersue the woman, and announce that I would donate all damages awared, matched with my own money to rape crisis centres.

I agree about counter sueing.

Can you see the reaction he would get if he were to do as you suggested.

[color:purple]We're building up or tearing down In everything we do;
Are you on the construction gang Or on the wrecking crew? - Anon
Edited by rman on 08/11/04 01:37 PM (server time).

I think he's innocent too, and here's why:

1.) Testing found she had sex with another man not long after Kobe

2.) Now the civil suit for big bucks

i think he's probably guilty, but who knows? i think the woman was amenable to messing around with kobe or at least she was being flirtatious and she also chose to go to his room alone. i think that he forced her to have sex on terms she wasn't comfy with and thus = rape. i suppose different people have different ways of coping and i'd be the last person to tell a woman how to react to being raped, but perhaps the sex she had after kobe (if true) was just another guy taking advantage of her when she was feeling down and confused.

civil suits for "big" bucks is not typically how you'd label her suit that is only for $75,000. that covers her legal bills and probably helps to pay for some counseling, but that's about it. if anything, i think the small amount helps to show that she's not in it for the money, but that she wants to see justice of some form.

--
That's actual damages, the big bucks will come in the punitive award.

I thought he was guilty too, until I discovered she had sex with some guy right after Kobe. That's a little suspicious, IMHO.

Colorado has a limit on how much you can sue for, in this case $75,000.

[color:purple]We're building up or tearing down In everything we do;
Are you on the construction gang Or on the wrecking crew? - Anon

this civil case will likely be settled because i am sure they all just want to move on. and, my guess is that the terms of the deal will be undisclosed. so, we'll probably never know. i would bet that kobe is a little more cautious in the future though.

--
