I liked it a lot too, but I'm surprised it overtook Nemo. I'll bet the Incredibles will pass them both up.

Maybe not. Shrek 2 had a multi-generation audience built-in. People went to see it even after the so-so reviews came out. And a HUGE advertising budget. You couldn't swing a dead-cat without hitting a Shrek 2 advertisement. (In fact, I think my dead cat even had Shrek 2 tattoed on its belly.)

I wonder how much each film netted. I think that would be a interesting list. Top 10 netting films.

Dean Davis

Just took my daughter to see it this afternoon. Gotta admit, I really enjoyed it. Oh I know it got slammed on plot and story line issues, and a lot of silly gags, but, Hello, It's an animated flick a/b fairy tale characters! You want plot and substance? I didn't think so.

I've thought the Pixar movies had a multi-generation audience in mind too? No doubt about the advertising, though, we'll see how Disney does this summer/fall. Since it might be their last Pixar movie (the only animation movies they have that are very good), maybe they will push it hard.

In reply to:

and a lot of silly gags

I liked that, some of the jokes fell flat, of course, but the ones that worked were fantastic.

Rented a Wallace & Gromit DVD today and watched it on the iMac. 'A Close Shave' & 'The Wrong Trousers' were hilarious.

Still haven't seen Shrek 2, but looking forward to it.

I enjoyed it too, didn't think it was as good as the first.

I thought the Shrek and Fiona characters were stale, but for me...Antonio Banderas stole the show with the Puss 'n Boots character.

Saw it, loved it. A sequel will probably never match the original but it came close. A ton of laughs and great animation/performances.

The kids were rapt.

8 out of 10 IMHO.

Moo?
